As the BBC has reported, the software company Apple has more cash on hand than the United States federal government, according to the company's financial records.
Apple's quarterly financial report shows that the company responsible for the iPad, iPod and the iPhone now has $76.4 billion in reserve cash, while the Treasury Department is sitting on just $73.7 billion.
The feds could probably learn a thing or two from Apple's success. Congress remains embroiled in a debate over spending and whether the federal government, which currently owes trillions in debt, should be allowed to borrow even more. International credit rating agencies have threatened to downgrade the national debt for the first time in the nation's history if Washington doesn't come up with a solution to lift the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling while implementing a concrete plan to get the nation's financial house in order.
Meanwhile, Apple's financial report shows that the company's profits, even through the last recession, are booming.

Weekend Trip

We had a great trip to Nebraska and the Kansas City area over the weekend. We visited Ruth in Omaha, then headed to York for church, Chances R Sunday brunch and YC memories. We spent Monday playing golf with our best friends Troy, Tony and Patty from Osage City.

We had a great time with the Markley's on Grand Lake after church on Sunday. We ate catfish and took a trip around the lake on a beautiful afternoon.

Cherokee County Fair

The Cherokee County Fair begins today in Columbus. Great food, fun and warm weather. My favorite place to go is to see the pigs. I love them. Always wanted one but Debbie said no way! I help at the Lions Club booth on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I hope everyone can come out and support the fair. It will be hot!

Sunday

Heard a great message at church on the topic of trusting God when times are tough. Worship was great.

Headed to NW Arkansas after am worship for lunch and a movie. Then we headed back to church for pm worship and home made ice cream. A fun Sunday with the Rocketdyne Road Family.

It's here. The annual Carriger Family 4th of July Bash in Columbus. We will have the entire family here except my brother Steve and his family. Craig will be here Sunday night from NYC. It should be a great weekend of family, food and fun. Jack is very excited!
