Busy Weekend

We didn't make it to SDC this past weekend. We had several items we needed to get done around the house. Yard work kept us busy.

SDC

We are headed to Silver Dollar City on Saturday for the Southern Gospel Music Celebration. The Booth Brothers and several other groups will be in concert. I have really got into Southern Gospel since moving to SE Kansas. I love the music.

I Am Now A SE Kansas Resident

I am now officially a Southeast Kansas resident. I found a fishing hole this weekend and caught 2 three pound catfish. It reminded me of the good old days at Pomona Lake.

Mt. Hope

This Sunday we will officially place membership with the Mt. Hope Church of Christ in Webb City. We have been attending Mt. Hope since January. Mt. Hope is a congregation in north Joplin with a Sunday morning attendance of about 375.

When we first arrived in Columbus in July of 2009 we attended the Columbus Church of Christ. They are a great group of Christian people. Debbie and I were just use to a larger church with many different ministries to choose from. We felt Mt. Hope would be a better place for us to use the gifts God has blessed us with. We loved the Central Church in Topeka where we worshipped and ministered for a number of years and served as an elder.

Sunday, we will visit with the elders for an orientation session where they will discuss their expectations for us and we will discuss our gifts we wish to share with them. We have enjoyed getting to know them and the congregation the past several months.

It has been a positive year visiting congregations and allowing God to place us in the right place for ministry. It has felt like we have been on a sabbatical in the aspect of teaching. I taught for about 10 consecutive years. It was nice to be fed by some excellent teachers the past 55 weeks.

We look forward to our new ministry at Mt. Hope.

Acappella in Joplin

This Saturday, Acappella is in Joplin at Carousel Park.
Believing in the awesome versatility and flexibility of the human voice, the renowned vocal group Acappella can fill a large concert hall with beautiful, intricate music without ever plucking a string or beating a drum.

A member of the Christian Music Hall of Fame, Acappella has sold well over
three million units and toured every continent on the globe since KeithLancaster - songwriter, producer and original lead singer - formed the group in 1982.

After releasing the landmark album Sweet Fellowship, Acappella signed withWord Records (and later Epic Records), and saw its popularity soar withreleases such as Rescue, We Have Seen His Glory and Set Me Free. The song "More Precious Than Gold" became the centerpiece of a Sony Camcorder national television commercial.

Acappella's latest project, Find Your Way, is a mix of strong harmony and sound biblical lyrics. Featuring Acappella's trademark strong bass and soaring tenor, Find your Way marks a triumphant return for the quintet afterits Radiance project won the 2007 CARA Award for Best Religious Album.

With passion for God and hearts for music ministry, current members RobinBrannon, Zac George, Anthony Lancaster, Wes McKinzie and Zachary Wilson continue Acappella's work through high-energy concerts all over the world.

A Beautiful Place

As I look back on our summer weekend trips, I can't forget about a beautiful place that is only about an hour away from Columbus. Roaring River is a great getaway. Crystal clear cold water.

Fishing

I went fishing for the first time in SE Kansas this weekend. I went down to the Neosho River at Chetopa (Catfish Capital of Kansas). No luck just a few bites. It was fun. I hope to hit Pomona Lake sometime before school begins.

God Will Make A Way

God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way.

By a roadway in the wilderness,
He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and earth will fade
But His Word will still remain
He will do something new today.

God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way
