Dinner in Tulsa

Move Westward Young Man

Craig and Dad leaves after school today to move him to Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be a fast trip. We will stop in Tulsa to have dinner with granny and grandad then off to Shamrock, Texas for Tuesday night. We should pull in to the hotel around midnight. I will try to keep all our friends and Facebook friends updated on the move. I hope Craig likes my Barry Manilow and Meatloaf type of music. Something tells me we will be at odds................

Craig Car

Congratulations Craig on your new Chevy Cruze. For the past 4 1/2 years you have enjoyed a life of subways, buses and taxies. Now you can help support the state by paying the gas tax, state taxes and helping the economy. I'm sure it's worth it. No more Singing Cowboys in the subway!

Craig Arrives Home

After 4 1/2 years, Craig leaves New York City this morning and begins a new phase of his life. I remember when we left our little boy in the Big Apple at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Debbie and I cried all the way home as we left our 18 year old all alone. We made 4 trips to NYC during his college career. Trips will never forget. Great memories. Thank you God for watching over Craig!

Herme's

ONE BIG HAPPY LUXURY FAMILY: Hermès’ U.S. employees — all 515 of them — gathered last weekend at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton, N.J., for the company’s first “family reunion.” Hermès closed all its 24 U.S. stores for three days — Sunday, Monday and Tuesday — so that staffers could be flown into the event. The stores reopened on Wednesday. “I thought it would be a great experience to bring all the family members together,” said Robert Chavez, president and chief executive officer of Hermès USA. “It’s about creating special bonds.” Not to mention the high motivational factor: a game of Hermès-style “Family Feud,” while Kermit Oliver, a postman and artist in Waco, Tex., who paints scarves for Hermès, spoke about his work and where he gets his inspiration. There was a DIY assignment: Every employee was asked to decorate a white 90-inch-by-90-inch silk Hermès scarf. When all 515 scarves were displayed, Chavez said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if some went into production.” Bertrand Puech, who chairs the main Hermès family holding company, and his wife, Martine, attended a gala dinner and recognition ceremony for top salespeople. Chavez declined to disclose the cost of the weekend, but said it was worth every penny. “Hermès is committed to quality. How do we continue to set ourselves apart as a company? We thought, ‘Let’s make that human connection.’” Chavez hopes to make the family reunion a tri-annual event.

iAmerica

Paul Sakuma (AP)Who's ready for iAmerica?
As the BBC has reported, the software company Apple has more cash on hand than the United States federal government, according to the company's financial records.
Apple's quarterly financial report shows that the company responsible for the iPad, iPod and the iPhone now has $76.4 billion in reserve cash, while the Treasury Department is sitting on just $73.7 billion.
The feds could probably learn a thing or two from Apple's success. Congress remains embroiled in a debate over spending and whether the federal government, which currently owes trillions in debt, should be allowed to borrow even more. International credit rating agencies have threatened to downgrade the national debt for the first time in the nation's history if Washington doesn't come up with a solution to lift the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling while implementing a concrete plan to get the nation's financial house in order.
Meanwhile, Apple's financial report shows that the company's profits, even through the last recession, are booming.

Cherokee County Fair

The Cherokee County Fair begins today in Columbus. Great food, fun and warm weather. My favorite place to go is to see the pigs. I love them. Always wanted one but Debbie said no way! I help at the Lions Club booth on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I hope everyone can come out and support the fair. It will be hot!

Heard a great message at church on the topic of trusting God when times are tough. Worship was great.

Headed to NW Arkansas after am worship for lunch and a movie. Then we headed back to church for pm worship and home made ice cream. A fun Sunday with the Rocketdyne Road Family.
